Rosacea &
Facial Redness
Rosacea is a chronic inflammatory condition that requires a careful, evidence-based approach. At Oak Skin, we combine the most effective laser technology for redness with naturopathic care to calm your skin — from the inside out.
UNDERSTANDING ROSACEA
What triggers rosacea and redness?
Rosacea affects millions of Canadians and is frequently misdiagnosed or under treated. Understanding your personal triggers is the foundation of effective management.
VASCULAR DYSFUNCTION
Rosacea involves abnormal blood vessel reactivity — vessels dilate easily and fail to constrict normally, causing persistent redness and visible capillaries.
DIETARY TRIGGERS
Alcohol, spicy foods, hot beverages, and histamine-rich foods can trigger flushing and worsen rosacea in susceptible individuals.
GUT MICROBIOME IMBALANCE
Research links rosacea to gut dysbiosis and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Addressing gut health often dramatically improves skin redness.
DEMODEX MITES
An overpopulation of Demodex folliculorum mites on the skin has been identified as a contributing factor in rosacea flares.
ENVIRONMENTAL TRIGGERS
Heat, sun exposure, wind, and temperature extremes are common rosacea triggers — especially relevant for BC's varied climate.
STRESS & NERVOUS SYSTEM
Emotional stress triggers cortisol release, which worsens vascular reactivity and inflammation — a key driver of rosacea flares.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Rosacea FAQ
Can rosacea be cured?
Rosacea is a chronic condition that can be effectively managed and significantly improved — but not permanently cured. With the right treatment plan, most clients achieve long-term remission with minimal flares.
How many laser sessions will I need?
Most rosacea clients see significant reduction in redness after 3–5 Aerolase sessions spaced 4 weeks apart, followed by maintenance treatments 2–4 times per year.
Is Aerolase laser safe for sensitive or reactive skin?
Yes — the Aerolase Neo Elite is specifically designed for sensitive and reactive skin types. Its ultra-short pulse duration minimizes heat buildup, making it exceptionally gentle and well-tolerated.
Is there downtime after rosacea laser treatment?
Virtually none. Some clients experience mild warmth or temporary flushing for a few hours post-treatment. You can return to normal activities immediately.
