PRP Platelet-Rich
Plasma Therapy
Your body already has everything it needs to heal and regenerate. PRP therapy at Oak Skin harnesses the growth factors in your own blood to stimulate hair regrowth, rejuvenate skin, and accelerate cellular repair — 100% naturally.
Your own biology.
Amplified.
Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) is derived from a small sample of your own blood. The blood is processed in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets — which are rich in growth factors including PDGF, VEGF, and TGF-β — to 3–5 times their normal concentration.
This concentrated PRP is then injected or applied to the treatment area, where the growth factors stimulate cellular regeneration, collagen production, and tissue repair. Because PRP is derived from your own body, there is no risk of allergic reaction or rejection.
PRP therapy at Oak Skin in Burnaby and Victoria is used for hair loss, facial rejuvenation, and combined with microneedling for enhanced skin remodelling results.
WHAT IS PRP?
THE PRP PROCESS
Simple, natural, effective
01
NUMBING
A small amount of blood is drawn — similar to a routine blood test. The procedure is quick and minimally uncomfortable.
02
CENTRIFUGATION
The blood is placed in a medical centrifuge and spun to separate and concentrate the platelet-rich plasma from other blood components.
03
PREPARATION
The treatment area is cleansed and numbed to ensure maximum comfort during the injection or application phase.
04
TREATMENT
PRP is injected into the scalp for hair loss, or applied to the face following microneedling for skin rejuvenation — flooding the treatment area with growth factors.
PRP APPLICATIONS
What PRP Therapy treats
CONDITIONS WE ADDRESS
HAIR LOSS & THINNNG
PRP injections into the scalp stimulate dormant follicles, increase blood supply, and extend the growth phase — producing measurable regrowth in most clients.
SCAR IMPROVEMENT
Combined with microneedling, PRP dramatically accelerates collagen remodelling in atrophic acne scars and traumatic scarring.
FACIAL REJUVENATION
PRP stimulates collagen, improves skin quality, and enhances overall luminosity — often called the "vampire facial" when combined with microneedling.
100% NATURAL
Derived entirely from your own body — zero risk of allergic reaction, rejection, or foreign-body response.
UNDEREYE REJUVENATION
PRP in the tear trough improves skin quality, reduces dark circles, and enhances the results of filler in this delicate area.
LONG-LASTING RESULTS
Results improve progressively over 3–6 months and are maintained with periodic top-up treatments every 6–12 months.
COMMON QUESTIONS
PRP Therapy FAQ
How many PRP sessions do I need for hair loss?
Most hair loss clients complete an initial series of 3–4 PRP sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart, followed by maintenance every 4–6 months. Visible hair regrowth typically begins within 3–6 months of starting treatment.
Is PRP covered by extended health benefits?
PRP is not typically covered by extended health insurance in BC. However, naturopathic consultations — which form an important part of our hair loss and skin rejuvenation protocols — are often covered.
Is PRP therapy safe?
PRP is one of the safest aesthetic treatments available — it is derived entirely from your own blood, eliminating the risk of allergic reactions or rejection. Side effects are minimal and temporary.
What's the difference between PRP and exosomes?
PRP uses growth factors from your own platelets, while exosomes are lab-derived nano-vesicles containing a concentrated array of regenerative signals. Both are powerful — they can be used independently or combined for enhanced results.
